We have a new website!!
June, 2016
Right now you are experiencing the product of hours and days and weeks of hard work; all aimed at making a brand new website with an improved user interface to give you the best experience possible while browsing the site. One that I can control and update at will, adding those "keepers," hot, right off the SD card. I may be adding some features in the not-so-distant future, like a checkout page, where you can order a print, choosing from various sizes right from this site.
Some more good news that I should mention is that due to some recent sales of prints and frames, I was able to wrangle down a brand new camera, officially retiring my first DSLR, the Nikon D7000. Buying that first camera was a huge jump, taking advice from friends to get something I could "grow into," rather than a camera who's limitations would become evident more quickly. I had no complaints with it and it will remain as a trusty backup to my D750 (that uses WiFi to transfer images-- insane!). As I learn all the new & improved features and exploit the new limits of this camera I will be posting the new photos right here, in the Gallery Collection that they coincide with. I hope you decide to keep coming back to check for those updates, as they will be made, more or less, in a spontaneous fashion.

Lastly, I also want to thank Neil TS Flanders at Racing Mind Press & Graphics for helping me realize this endeavor by creating the entirety of my first website "from scratch!" Using homemade recipes of various HTML code, he took a combination of our ideas for what the site should look like and, by God, he turned them into that first website. The color scheme, "Dustin Halter" signature graphic, and structure for that first site came out so successfully that this new site keeps those factors as an integral piece of the Dustin Halter Photography "brand." This new site is an homage to those ideas and Neil's hard work. For graphic design proposals and price quotes, you can contact Racing Mind Press & Graphics via Facebook.
The beginning-
Dustin Halter Photography has hit the world wide web. It was a wild ride, starting in February of 2012. I finally decided to jump into the pool of DSLR equipped photographers. I actually knew next to nothing about aperture, photo processing, or what in the heck a hot shoe was this time last year. Since then, I, with the help of friends, blogs, and Google search have come quite a long way. When I wake up and leave the house, there is no day that I leave my camera behind. Any time I'm in the car I have two things on my mind: staying between the lines and my next shot. I'm not implying that I am some self-taught enigma, but it's one of the things I enjoy most and I put a lot of time, energy, and emotion into it.
Early 20th Century photographer, Ansel Adams, once said, "Landscape photography is the supreme test of the photographer - and often the supreme disappointment.
"That said, I will make the claim that life rewards opportunity, and opportunity is a numbers game. The more you try, the better your chance for success. I only missed a handful of gorgeous sunsets before I added my big clunky DSLR to items like my keys, wallet, and shades that I would grab before I walk out of the house every day.
I'm not one to be overly wordy, but I am hoping to fill this page with editorials, and stories from my photography expeditions. That said, if it ends up on this page, you should be reading it. I will update the page often, keeping it as fresh as that overpriced organic guava juice you all seem to love so much.
Cheers!
